WHEN THE MAN COMES AROUND…

After successfully launching a new IP with DARKSIDERS in 2010, PETROL wants to help the next Horseman, Death, make an even bigger entrance. Unlike his clunkier brother War, Death is agile, swift, and inescapable. The key to capturing Death in all his glory was embracing the fact that no matter how hard anyone tries, it’s impossible to outrun Death.



Packaging

Death in the DARKSIDERS universe is nuanced: he is scary, imposing, and the ultimate weapon of destruction. But he is also destined to be the savior of humanity. To capture this complex character, PETROL utilized a series of unconventional poses blending both action and emotion.

Out of Home

Death descends upon E3. PETROL’s illustration and design team created this incredible 40ft tall outdoor billboard that will grace the front of the LA Convention Center.

Renders

PETROL developed a series of original renders for DARKSIDERS II protagonist Death to align with the three strategic phases of the campaign: Death Lives, Death Saves, and Death Strikes. The campaign kicked off with a mysterious, tight crop on Death’s iconic mask, and evolved to show him in action, as a threat, and finally, as a hero.

Working with Random House publishers, PETROL created an original piece of artwork for the cover of a DARKSIDERS book that delves more deeply into Death’s backstory.
